1. Construction workdays are Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
2. Work begins at 8:00 a.m. and continues into the afternoon.
3. Groups of ten or less are best. If needed divide your group into morning and afternoon work groups or separate days.
4. Construction volunteers must be age 16 or older.
5. Construction work is on-going all year long.
6. It is best to set one or two alternate dates for your group sign-up.
7. Habitat will not be able guarantee work on a scheduled day. Our work crews are often delayed because of inspections, weather conditions or other contractors. It is important to stay in touch with the Habitat office the week of your scheduled project and have a means of letting your group know if work has been cancelled.
8. Groups can also provide lunch for the construction volunteers as part of their volunteer service. This provides a way to involve volunteers that might not be comfortable swinging hammers.
9. Volunteers should wear work gloves and strong shoes. Bring a nail apron with hammer, tape measure and pencil. If a painting day, bring a brush or paint roller. Tools are also available at the job site if a volunteer does not have tools.
