By building in partnership
with people in need, affordable, safe, attractive, healthful
and secure houses.
-
By offering dignity and hope
through home ownership to those families with whom we

| What is
Habitat for Humanity? |
| |
|
Habitat
for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian
housing ministry. It is dedicated to eliminating
inadequate housing in our community and throughout
the world. The group builds simple, decent and affordable
homes in partnership with those in need. |
| |
| How it works |
| |
- Habitat
homeowner partners are low-income, working families who participate
in the building of Habitat homes through their "sweat equity"
hours.
- Sweat equity
is used in lieu of a down payment.
-
Families
pay the actual cost for their home through a no-profit, no-interest
mortgage.
-
House
payments are recycled into the building fund, which is used for
the construction of more homes.
