| Wells Fargo and Habitat for Humanity raised the walls on the 11th Habitat Home sponsored by Wells Fargo Bank. The family partnering to own the home are Siddig and Samia Nour and their four children. A wall-raising celebration took place July 28th at 8:30 a.m. at the site of the new house, 4235 W Thatcher, in Lincoln. The three-bedroom home is being built with the Nour family, thanks to donations from Wells Fargo Bank.
Wells Fargo has been a dedicated partner to Lincoln/Lancaster County Habitat for Humanity since 2000 donating more than $250,000 for 11 Habitat homes. Thrivent Builds Work continues on the Thrivent Builds Project at 4125 W. Thatcher, the home for Peter Biliew, Nyadong Bangong and their five children.
This home is part of a national home-building alliance between Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and Habitat for Humanity International which will help the Lincoln/Lancaster County Habitat affiliate build three of the 10 local homes planned for construction this year. |

JEO Consulting Group, Inc. named Lincoln/Lancaster County Habitat for Humanity as one of the 2007 beneficiaries of the JEO Benefit Golf Scramble held June 22, 2007. The Golf Scramble was held at Woodland Hills Golf Course and was the 2nd Annual JEO Golf Benefit. This was an exciting opportunity for Habitat supporters to swing irons instead of hammers to help build safe, decent affordable homes. |

Both homes are part of a national home-building alliance between Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and Habitat for Humanity International which will help the Lincoln/Lancaster County Habitat affiliate build three of the 10 local homes planned for construction this year. “This wonderful Thrivent partnership has helped us increase our building capacity from eight to 10 houses this year,” said Nancy Muehling, executive director of the local Habitat affiliate. “We’re able to help two more families that we wouldn’t have been able to serve otherwise.” Thrivent Financial became Habitat for Humanity International’s largest ally as a result of a four-year $105 million commitment to help increase the nonprofit housing ministry’s home building production. In addition, Thrivent Financial rallied its national network of nearly 3 million members to volunteer. The alliance gives local Habitat affiliates the opportunity to work with more low-income families toward achieving Habitat’s mission of eliminating substandard housing. |

Saturday, May 12th women volunteers in Lincoln honored Mother’s Day a little early by picking up hammers to build a Habitat home as part of First Families Building Homes Across America, a two-year program of Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build program, which is underwritten by Lowe’s.
Habitat for Humanity launched year one of the First Families initiative last May in Mobile, Ala., and since then 27 First Families houses have been constructed in partnership with families in need by local and state leaders, Habitat for Humanity, Lowe’s and women volunteers. During the week leading up to this year’s Mother’s Day, Governors’ spouses and other local and state-wide leaders will work with Habitat and women volunteers to construct 11 First Families homes across the U.S. These 11 homes are part of the total 25 First Families homes to be constructed in 2007. “There is a need for affordable housing and the Women Build program is helping address that need by empowering women to help combat poverty in their local communities,” Ganem said. “I’m pleased to be part of this project and encourage volunteers across the state to join Habitat for Humanity in helping make affordable housing available here in Nebraska for families in need.” |

All homes built as part of the First Families program will be Habitat Women Build homes. This is the fourth Women Build project taken on by Lincoln/Lancaster County Habitat and will add to the more than 800 Habitat for Humanity houses built by women crews throughout the United States. Women Build, underwritten by Lowe’s, enables women to learn construction skills and to use these skills to help move families out of poverty. Further information is available at lowes.com/habitat. “We appreciate the opportunity to help empower women in Nebraska through in-store clinics and on-site participation,” added Craig Christiansen, store manager, Lowe’s of Lincoln “It is an honor to join with women volunteers and the Pape family in this nationwide program to create safe, affordable homes with families in need.”
“We are excited to have Nebraska’s First Lady partner with volunteers here in our capital city,” noted Nancy Muehling, Executive Director, Lincoln/Lancaster County Habitat. “Their hard work will help make the dream of homeownership a reality for the Sara Pape and her children." |
